FREE-STANDING DISPLAY BOARD FOR THE OLYMPIAPARK AUGSBURG AT THE ICE CANAL

Rheine, 14 April 2022 | Press Release LEDCON Systems GmbH

Fittingly for the Canoe World Championships in summer 2022, LEDCON installed an 8 x 3 m LED display panel at the world-famous "mother of all artificial canoe courses". With expertise from other Olympic venues, our specialists were involved from conception to production to realisation in the listed 1972 Olympic Park.

After the modernisation of the Federal Training Centre for Canoe Slalom and White Water in 2012, the City of Augsburg focused on the further general renovation of the entire Olympic Park until the Canoe World Championships in summer 2022. One of the milestones is the renewal of the scoreboard on the white-water canoe course at the level of the event centre, where all competition-related functions come together.

The Olympic Park from 1972, which is now a UNESCO cultural heritage site, is a listed building in its entirety. A task that LEDCON has also mastered in the Olympic Hall in Munich, among others.

However, the special requirements for the free-standing installation also lay in the impact protection at the front, which can be moved upwards for the use of the LED scoreboard. This serves to protect and ensure the longevity of the entire scoreboard in the public Olympic Park.

In addition, a rear service platform has been integrated to ensure optimum maintenance access to the LED technology.

Modules from the outdoor-ready SPix series with a pixel pitch of 3.9mm and an impressive total resolution of 2048 x 768 pixels were installed.

The highly renowned white-water facility, which among other things is considered a model for numerous artificial international canoe courses, now continues to represent the benchmark in worldwide canoeing thanks to all the renovation work.
