After the old display board, built in 2001, was deservedly retired, the specialists from LEDCON Systems GmbH installed a new 7.20 by 4.20 meter LED display board on behalf of SWG Stadt- und Wohnbau GmbH Schweinfurt during the summer break. Ledcon's renowned Upix III series is used. With a pixel pitch of 10mm, the resolution has been drastically optimized. With over 300,000 pixels instead of the previous 5764 and a system brightness of up to 6500 cd/m², the difference to the old system is extremely obvious.

Additional information about players, the course of the game, advertising - the possibilities of the 16:9 format display were used directly and caused enthusiasm among the audience and the responsible persons.

Despite the significantly better resolution, the energy requirement for the future could be reduced by more than half.

A subtask of the project was to free the existing steel structure on the Marathon Gate from the old installation and reuse it. In addition, the installation was provided with a passe-partout frame.

A nice side effect of the new LED display: the installed, modern display board has reduced the overall weight of the plant by almost one ton.

In addition to being used for soccer matches, the new scoreboard will also be used for other events, primarily athletics.
